We’re proud to have participated in ‘The Right to Sight Trust’ eye care surgeries

We love participating in campaigns like the Right to Sight Trust’s eye care awareness cataract surgeries, because vision loss due to cataracts is a leading cause of PREVENTABLE blindness. We have so many blessings that “PAYING IT FORWARD” is a driving mission in Dr Katie’s practice.

Apart from the obvious benefit of giving someone their sight back, there are also many advantages to the giver. Doing good feels good due to a combination of biological, psychological and social factors. It is a fundamental part of what makes us social beings. It is easy to spread goodwill and positivity – It is just so much easier when you have the AMAZING support and backup from the incredible ECAW 2023 sponsors who made these surgeries possible: We need to thank:

  • Cindy from the RTS Trust for all her organising
  • Envision for surgical consumables
  • Lelanie from Genop for materials and lenses, and the surgical division for Nexus support
  • Mieke, Elanie and Amore from Geneye for all the post-op medications
  • Sohana and Hendrik from NMS who created custom cataract pack in no time
  • Gordon, Mandy and Brett from Oculate for lenses, viscoelastics and brilliant service and
  • The wonderful management and staff at Johannesburg Eye Hospital who made everyone’s day with their usual caring and compassion.

We also must thank the kind people at Afrihost who stepped in to sponsor our viscoelastics.
